Wenger approaches Roeder / Gilberto is worth more than £10Mil

The football world was focused on the season curtain raiser today at Wembley between Manure and the chavs. It was such an un-inspiring game I was grateful Arsenal took part in a very good match the night before in Amsterdam. It was great to see Arsenal push to the last and grab the win at the death something we didn’t do enough last season.

With the Community Shield on it meant Arsenal were spared any made up stories for headline attention.  Van did make the press with a little dig at Freddie (after Freddie moaned we lacked ambition), obviously it was The News of the World that got the scoop, “If you play nine years at a club like Arsenal you can say some nice words. “If you’re coming up with excuses about Thierry’s departure and about promises from the club it’s a bit weak.” said Robin. Also The People say Wenger has turned down a £10Mil offer for Gilberto from Valencia. The Sunday Express also say Wenger has now approached Glenn Roeder to be Football Director at Arsenal. Wenger had said before the Emirates Cup he hadn’t approached Roeder but didn’t say he wouldn’t.

I loved The Irish Independent’s season previews, it listed Tottenham’s ‘best case scenario’ as Berbatov scoring few enough goals so Manure don’t try and sign him. Arsenal’s was to beat Barcelona in the Champions League Final, a fair balance of where the two clubs stand I think.

Cesc has been singing Eduardo’s praises he told the Star that he thinks Eduardo “is very clever. He has a lot of skill and will do well for Arsenal this season.” I just can’t wait to see him strum it in the Premiership, he’s sure to be an exciting player and so far I’ve been on the edge of my seat every time he’s touched the ball.

Only 6 days to go before we are back in the Matchday routine.

  1. Sure, Eduardo and Van P. seem to be solving Wenger’s big problem…FINISHING! Eduardo’s got the ruthlessness Wenger was calling for all of last season… He’s good in the air, which is what we need if Eboue and Rosicky are going to bring in crosses… Seems like we finally have an all round Arsenal team! Can’t wait for the 11th!
